How to use Location Mapping

The Location mapping feature allows stores with physical locations to submit individual store product data for each of their locations in one primary feed-- eliminating the need to create and submit multiple feeds for local inventory.

Location mapping is available in every feed template in our platform. Check out our short explainer video that walks you through setting up Locations, or follow the step-by-step instructions below:

How it works

When creating Locations in a feed, our platform duplicates the feed's template fields. Each location added will duplicate a SKU, and then insert the unique mapped data in (if a SKU has data available for a Location).

For example, this test store has unique price and quantity product data for two stores -- store code 55 and store code 46 -- that they would like to submit for local inventory in their feed. They will setup the locations and map in the source fields highlighted here:

Import data:

  SKU storeCode_55 quantity_55
price_55
storeCode_46
quantity_46
price_46
  6063398 55 1 9.99 46 5 4.99

Feed data:

Following the location mapping process, here is how successful location mappings for these two stores would appear in the feed file output:

  ID StoreCode Quantity Price
  6063398 55 1 9.99
  6063398 46 5 4.99

How to set up Locations

  1. To set up feed locations, navigate to the Mapping page in your feed.
  2. Click "Location" in the header.

  3. Click the "Add Location" button.

  4. Enter the name of the location, and click "Save".

  5. Once you have added a location, the mapping screen should appear as illustrated below. Please note that the exact appearance may vary based on your specific settings.

Within the location mapping page, you have the option to map source fields with product data unique to this location, or input static values or establish rules to target distinct location fields. To expand or collapse the mapping section, simply click on the location name.

Required feed mappings for the location are indicated with a red asterisk and are listed at the top of the page. Ensure these are completed for each Location.

  6. Make sure to click the blue "Save" button located at the top of the Mapping page when you have completed location mappings.

How to edit or delete Locations

    1. Click the pencil icon to modify the location name.

We recommend modifying the location name before saving the mapping; failing to do so will necessitate the deletion of the location and a restart of the process.

    2. Select the “Delete” button to eliminate a location and its corresponding mapping when the location is no longer required.

Creating custom feed rules using mapped Location fields

Once a feed field has a Location mapping, custom feed rules can be created for this Location-specific feed field.

For example, the rule editor displayed below is designed to target the price field for a location named “Austin”.

The fields associated with a location are also accessible within the ‘where’ clause.

If you need to take a look at the location mappings you have completed, you can check them using the highlighted sections below.
