The Import Mapping Editor tool is a powerful feature located in the "Import" > "Mapping" page that provides:

• the ability to easily make bulk import mapping changes
• the ability to clone import mappings from one Store into another Store

This article will guide you through the 3 different methods you can use to modify import mappings, and reviews the process of applying and saving changes made in the Editor.

Both the Download/Upload function and the Copy/Paste functions of the Import Mapping Editor allow you to transfer import mappings from one store to another. So if you have custom import mappings set up in an existing Shopify Store in our App, and want to replicate them in a new Shopify Store, you can perform either set of functions to apply import mappings from one Store to another.

Toggle through the methods below and follow the steps to update import mappings in one store, or copy/paste import mappings between stores in our App:

• 1. Click the "Export" button and select 'Download'
  2. You can open the .txt file in Notepad > make mapping changes > Save
  3. You can also choose copy the information from Notepad paste into Excel > make mapping changes > Save

     When making edits, make sure to keep the SYSTEM FIELDS (Ex. CustomField143. CustomField145, etc) for all fields. Only remove the "importSourceFieldName" and "label" values.

  4. Once mapping edits are completed, navigate back to the Editor click "Import" select 'Upload' and upload the file you edited
  5. You will see the changes you made to the mappings reflected in the Editor grid.
• 1. Click on the "Export" button and select 'Copy Mapping' to copy import mappings to the clipboard
  2. Open a blank Excel sheet or another program like Notepad, and paste the copied mappings
  3. Make the desired changes to the mappings

     Again when making edits, make sure to keep the SYSTEM FIELDS (Ex. CustomField143. CustomField145, etc) for all fields. Only remove the "importSourceFieldName" and "label" values.

  4. Select All and Copy
  5. Navigate back to the Editor and click "Import" select 'Paste Mapping'
  6. Paste the modified mappings into the empty dialog box
  7. Click "Back"
  8. The changes you made in the external program will be successfully pasted into the Editor
• 1. You can click into any 'Source' or 'Label' field in the Editor page and type directly into it to modify values
  2. On the right side you'll find the pinned 'Source Field List', which displays all the source fields detected in the latest import for your reference
  3. You can also highlight any value from the 'Source Field List' and paste it into any field in the Editor

• Once you have previewed all of the Import Mapping changes and ensured they appear correct here in the Editor, click the "Apply" button.

  

  This will apply the changes and take you back to the main Mapping page for a final review.

  Review all the applied edits on the Mapping page to ensure their correctness. If everything looks good, click the blue "Save" button at the top to complete the editing process.

  

• The "Reset" button located in the top right corner of the Import Mapping Editor allows you to reset all mappings.

  

  If a Store is changing primary sources, using the "Reset" button can be helpful because mappings often differ between sources, and can incorrectly carryover after a migration happens. Then, you can make additional manual changes in the Import Mapping Editor if necessary.

  After resetting all mappings, the system will automatically remap source fields to system fields during the next scheduled import. So be sure to trigger a new Import immediately after resetting mappings here.
