Your feed score indicates the overall quality and completeness of your product data. A higher score means your products are more likely to be approved by shopping channels and perform better once live.
📊Understanding Feed Validation
When you compile a feed, our system automatically validates your product data against pre-built rules designed to ensure compatibility with the shopping channel. The validation identifies three types of issues:
Errors (Critical)
Errors are critical issues that prevent products from being included in your feed.
Products with errors are automatically excluded to protect you from feed rejections and account issues in the shopping channel.
Common errors include:
- Missing required fields (title, price, availability, etc.)
- Invalid data formats (incorrect price formatting, broken image URLs)
- Policy violations specific to the shopping channel
What happens: Products with errors won't appear in your submitted feed until the issues are resolved.
Warnings (Highly Recommended)
Warnings highlight missing or incomplete data that significantly impacts feed quality. While products with warnings will still be included in your feed, addressing these issues is highly recommended to improve performance.
Common warnings include:
- Lack of additional product images
- Missing product identifiers (GTIN, MPN, brand)
- Incomplete categorization
What happens: Products appear in your feed but may have reduced visibility or lower approval rates on the shopping channel.
Optimizations (Recommended)
Optimizations are suggestions to enhance your products' performance on specific shopping channels. These aren't required but can significantly boost visibility, click-through rates, and conversions.
Common optimizations include:
- Enhancing product titles with keywords
- Adding size, color, or material attributes
- Including sale pricing
What happens: Products are fully compliant, but addressing optimizations can improve ad performance and sales.
📈 How to Improve Your Feed Score
Step 1: Prioritize Errors
Start by resolving all errors. These issues prevent products from reaching your customers, so they should be your first priority.
- Click the "View alerts" button in the Data validation card
- Errors appear first in the validation table -- you can also filter the table to view errors only
- Click on each error to see specific details
- Read the details of what is required in the description and AI summary and view the affected products below
- Update the missing or incorrect data in your product information by clicking the "Update mapping" button or "Create rule" button to resolve this error message
- After working through your error messages and applying changes, compile your feed to verify the errors are resolved
Step 2: Address Warnings
Once errors are cleared, focus on warnings to maximize your feed quality score. Following the same steps as above, work through your warning messages to:
- Identify which warnings affect the most products
- Batch-update common issues (like missing descriptions or images)
- Review channel-specific requirements for best practices
- Revalidate to confirm improvements
Step 3: Apply Optimizations
After resolving errors and warnings, implement optimizations to maximize performance. Following the same steps as above, work through your optimization messages to:
- Review optimization suggestions specific to your sales channel
- Prioritize optimizations that align with your business goals
- Test different approaches (enhanced titles, additional images, etc.)
- Monitor performance metrics to see what works best
